QUOTE(Gnappster)
I have one friend who I think I could work with pretty well, but some others, absolutely no way.

When I used to work at a restaurant/lounge, I used to hang out with the people there all the time, made friends I still have to this day. But it was a way more casual atmosphere, and some pretty cool people worked there. It was more like a place I worked, than a job though. It's hard to explain but it was just different.
But I think to now, and like bob said, I try to keep work and home as far apart as possible. I don't like to hang out with or see or talk about work or anyone from it when I am not there. It might also be because the people I work with and my boss, I would never in a million years converse with if it weren't for work. Not saying they aren't good people, just waaaaaay on the other side of the spectrum. It's like the 2 Goerge Costanza's. There is work gnappster and home gnappster. They should never cross paths.
And the 2 guys my boss is thinking about hiring in the new year, well I may slit my own wrists over the entire ordeal. One guy is my age but he looks like he's 40. He is about 5'8" and 290 lbs, and sweats when he talks. He smells like rotiing french fries.
The other guy is this loud overbearing guy, the kind of gut you can hear over top of everything else at a party but who isn't interesting or funny. And he laughs really loud at the end of everything he says. And he never ever shut up. Should be good time
Sorry, just had to get that off of my chest.

I think this properly belongs in the "Rant" thread. Or maybe the "Best Handjob" thread.

One of the things you have to be careful of when you own your own company is being on too friendly terms with the guys who work for you. I certainly get along with everyone but it's not okay to play favorites. It can be difficult scheduling work when every job is different and some are easy and some are real ball-breakers. I have to sort of evenly distribute the amount of work, not just the hours. It's a hell of a lot easier to drive for two or three hours than lug stuff up to the third floor for the same amount of time. It was so much easier when I was in the Marine Corps. Anyone complained about how hard I was working them, I'd give them extra shit to do, just to remind them how much their opinion matter. I had to live with those guys too, but being an N.C.O, it was expected that I would have break some balls to get anything accomplished. Basically, the Captain's rule was if I couldn't get my guys to do whatever, I'd have to do it myself, since it was ultimately my responsibility to get it done. If I had to tell someone twice, the second time I'd make it an order. Disobeying a direct order can get you into big trouble, but again, I had to live with these guys and writing someone up for disobeying an order isn't a good way to make friends. It sure was easier to just tell someone to do something than to have to persuade and conjole and convince your workers to do it your way.

I'd love to be in charge of you. We'd have to change the rules about sexual harassment since the things I'd do to you would get me banned for life.

Been awhile since i've posted, but was busy with things over the holidays and I've been in and out of the hospital as I have yet another benign (no cancer) tumor on my wrist, right beside my scar from the last one, so I'll be heading in for surgery sometime next week, at least this will only be a day surgery and I won't be in there for 3 weeks like I was in the summer time.

bed goes up... bed goes down...
