I understand the reason for the thread, but I have to wonder if permission is being given to post these pics.

I mean, i understand they were all prolly obtained from the site, but that still doesnt eliminate the necessity of the owners permission before posting.

Some of these pics may have been sent in PM's and the owner only intended for the recipient to get the pic.

I'm with Pay 100% on this one. When a picture is posted, then taken down, it's taken down for a reason. For someone to save it then repost it is not cool. That goes even more so if you got it in a PM. As far as I can remember, this practice is out of bounds. If the women wanted the picture to stay on the boards, they would have left it up in the first place. The ONLY way a thread like this should be allowed is if the women themselves post their personal favorites (of themselves). If you can't understand the reasoning for this, than think a little harder. Also it should be added that when you "Reply" and "Repost" someones picture, you take contol away from the poster. i.e. they lose the ability to take it down. I think this thead should be closed down immediatly and anyone who's posted someone else's picture should have the decency to delete it own their own without having to be told again. This is a very slippery slope you guys are starting down and if the women get reluctant to post or drop out of RMM because of it we're all going to be worse off.

one could always hotlink to the original pic right? then if it's taken down or whatever, the pic in here would be deleted as well automatically.
just my lame idea.

Look thru the threads in the 411 forum and notice all the people who don't post here anymore. Most took their pictures with them when they left. If I had to estimate, I'd say there's only one picture in twenty that stays up. Back in the day, four or five women would be posting on a thread for a couple of hours. If you weren't there, you missed it. Maybe two or three pictures would be left up. Now, it's one picture and five pages of chatter. You've never noticed that you've only seen some pictures once? Is every picture you've posted still up? I KNOW some woman won't post certain pictures if they thought they were going to stay up. Most times, the women check to see who's logged on when they're posting and that dictates what goes up. When you see a post with the words "Fifteen seconds" or "One minute" with no picture there, it means it was only posted for that lenghth of time. (Obviously) To see a picture like that reposted would piss off most women. To repost a picture that came in a PM is totally uncool and if it happens, it'll probably be that last one they send. It comes down to respect and common sense, which, as far as I can see, is sorely lacking in this thread.

I dont think I have taken down any of mine so far but I know it is done I meant that I wasnt sure if any posted in this thread was taken down.

As far as PM I would feel totally violated and pissed if someone posted a pic I sent them in a PM.

I have never saved anyones pics from here just finally went last night to find all mine and resave them LOL but I can see where the problem would come if pics are reposted. I think Gnappy had a good idea.

BUt as far as my comment about not knowing if any were taken down I meant just in this post I wasnt sure if any were ones the girls removed or anything.

If you're not there when they were originally posted, consider yourself out of luck. If you save them, save them for yourself. If you repost without permission, you've violated the intentions of the poster. I'm not going to keep beating a dead horse. I obviously think this thread is a big mistake and hope it gets closed before any more pictures go up. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.

<<I have more pics of this young lady...>>

Have you asked Kiki--or ANYone else, for that matter--if it is okay to post their pics anywhere YOU see fit?

I have received both text PMs and photo-containing PMs from people on this site. I won't say who, because the "P" is SUPPOSED to mean "private".

If someone wants to direct others to a site, or send them pics, that is one thing. To "pirate" pics in a "free-for-all" manner is WAY uncool. Just my opinion, of course.

But, I sure wouldn't post/send any more pics or PMs to people if I didn't think what I said in a "private" forum might not STAY private. And I sure as hell wouldn't post pics (or anything else) to a place where there are jagoffs who will post those those pics or information ANYwhere--even on that site--without my permission.

It's great that there is a discussion about the ethics of posting and re-posting. Much of the re-posting that has occured is covered under Fair Use. Visit the Stanford University Library website above for a discussion of Fair Use. As long as one is discussing in this forum images that have been published here in this forum, no one's intellectural property rights are being violated. And that is how things ought to operate in our society. :)

However, there may be conditions stipulated in licensing agreements that limit what one can or cannot do.

Also, in this forum, one should probably be sensitive to the wishes of those who have posted their photographs (that would include me!). :)

Yeah, I agree with all of the points that had been made. I'd just like to say that the two pictures that I posted last night were from the main page. I would *not* post a picture that someone had taken down. Way uncool.

But as I didn't have permission to post, I have deleted the pictures from my posts.

And I did originally agree to have my pictures posted in this thread, because, hey they're already in my thread, they already can be seen by anyone, and I haven't taken them down. But I don't think I thought that through--thanks to closeup's posts, I know that If I suddenly want all my pictures gone, it's out of my control, and I don't like that.

So I think Gnappy's idea about hotlinking was best, or else the girls should post their own pictures.

Well since I started the thread I should clarify some things. While this thread was meant to be a picture thread of members' favorite pics of other members, it has turned into a rights of posting thread.

While I believe that once a picture is posted, it is free to use as a person pleases, as long as there is no copyright infringement. I understand if a member posts a picture, then takes it down seconds, minutes, hours, or days later. But, once they have posted that picture, is it not free for all to consume of?

I understand that these ladies may not want their pictures reposted and not be under their management to take down. I never meant this thread to be bad towards any member, but rather a praise thread.

I indeed asked several of these women for the OK to post these pics. The majority explained it was OK as long as it was on this thread only. But, after thinking it over, I have decided to take down every picture post I have made, as it no longer a picture thread.

By the way....how many members have seen the Paris Hilton Video's??? I doubt she wanted those out for public consumption, yet we still have seen them. Since any of you have seen the video's have you thought of what she wanted (Not for home viewing)??

Also, I did not post any private message pictures. I would also like to clarify that only one member PM'ed me with concern towards this post. I would've thought more people would've come to the source rather than "beating a dead horse."

You know I think I am the only one that hasn't seen the paris movie if anyone has it I would like to see:P

I did see the pam anderson one though.

I can see the points of all sides and as somfan posted no laws are being broken. WITH THAT though I suppose it comes down to the politics of this board, we are a little community here friends or what have you and if girls that post here start loosing the control of there photos being up or not might make them no longer want to post which would lead to no reason for this site to begin with??? The pics in the forum also arent watermarked like on the main page.

Closeup, I am just wondering if you think members will be responsible enough to take down pictures that are in a reply such as the post you made today:

http://www.ratemymelons.com/chat/index.php?showtopic=302&…

See Post #556 of this thread.

In your reply you have posted the previous pic from another member. What will happen when she takes down her pic? Will it be removed automatically from your reply as well?

Is this considered posting a pic without approval? What's your thoughts on this issue?
